About the X-59

Made in Palmdale, CA, meet the X-59 – Skunk Works® and NASA’s game-changing experimental jet that’s about to revolutionize air travel. This sleek supersonic marvel breaks the sound barrier above while keeping things whisper-quiet for everyone below. No more earthshaking sonic booms, just a gentle thump!

The X-59 will be used to collect community response data on the acceptability of a quiet sonic boom generated by the unique design of the aircraft. The data will help NASA provide regulators with the information needed to establish an acceptable commercial supersonic noise standard to lift the ban on commercial supersonic travel over land.

This breakthrough would open the door to an entirely new global market for aircraft manufacturers, enabling passengers to travel anywhere in the world in half the time it takes today.

About the World's Fastest Microchip

Made in Redondo Beach, CA, this tiny microchip is one hundred times smaller than a grain of rice and one-tenth the width of a human hair, yet it operates at one trillion cycles per second; blowing by the speed of certain sound frequencies which seem to be moving at a glacial pace and averaging less than 100 cycles per second.

Back in 2012, the record set for the ‘fastest microchip’ was 850 gigahertz, which seems pretty quick, yet THz is operating 150 billion cycles faster than that.

The THz chip, manufactured at the Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center (NGMC) Space Park Foundry, has held the Guinness World Record since 2014 for being the fastest microchip in production today. Speed is the name of the game for this technology, which astounds people when they witness its size, or ‘lack thereof.’
